Indaba is set in 1/4 acre of tropical garden, within easy
walking distance of the beach and main road. Easily accessible yet
secluded.
Location
Indaba, Zulu for meeting place, is located just outside the village of Belmont in the south east of Carriacou. Belmont is a thriving local community with shops, bars and a bakery. The larger village of Harvey Vale with its restaurants, supermarkets and yachting community is 2 miles away and the main town of Hillsborough is 5 miles distant. Indaba is accessed from the government maintained road from Belmont to Six Roads by a track which crosses some open pasture land. The grounds are well fenced and the owners have developed a beautiful tropical garden around the house. The nearest beach, Black Bay, is about an 8 - 10 minute walk away along a path. Often deserted, the sand is black and there is a small reef which provides interesting swimming and snorkeling. This is a cool, bug free, secluded, yet easily accessible location.Setting
Indaba is set in a completely fenced, well developed tropical garden with mature fruit trees and a wide variety of shrubs and plants.Accommodation
Indaba has been built in two phases. The first part, completed in 1997, was a wooden cottage constructed to exceedingly high standards with a hard wood frame and floor using greenheart and purpleheart, the best of the hardwoods. The design is open plan with a loft at each end of the building. The second part began in 2009 and the owners are still working on the finishing touches. They added a porch to the front and rear of the cottage and an impressive concrete/block extension faced in local stone which has a bathroom, dining room/bedroom with ensuite facilities and pantry.
