Beachcomber, Deluxe Tropical Villa
Beachcomber, Snow Hill, Craigston, Carriacou A deluxe tropical villa, directly fronting onto the wide sweep of Sparrow Bay, with views to the out-islands to the west and Union Island to the north. Beachcomber is located on the Craigston Estate, a former lime plantation and one of the best residential areas, much favored by expatriates for their vacation and permanent homes. The Estate is situated 1½ miles to the north of the island's only town of Hillsborough and is accessed from the main road to Bogles. There are concrete estate roads leading about half a mile through pasture land to the property.
The property benefits from covenants designed to protect the peaceful, residential nature of the area. There is an Owners' Association of which all homeowners are required to be members.
The property was constructed during 1993 of rendered concrete blocks. The roof beams, which are exposed to the interior of the property, are treated pine and between these is treated groove ply. The roof is covered with red clay tiles. During 2000 a very substantial sea wall was constructed to prevent land erosion. Steps from the garden lead over this wall directly onto the beach. In 2007/8 there was a program of refurbishment which included glass sash windows with insect screens, wooden shutters, retractable insect screens to the doorways, a remodeled kitchen and full A/C throughout.
Accommodation
The accommodation comprises some 2000 sq. ft. and the floors are tiled throughout. The open plan living/dining area has double doors to the front and rear. The front opens onto the west facing veranda and the rear gives access to the gardens and third bedroom. The well equipped kitchen has a large fridge/freezer, full cooker, small dishwasher and plenty of storage cupboards. There is a utility room with laundry sink and washing machine. The house is extremely tastefully furnished with tropical cane furniture. All windows and doors are screened against insects and all rooms have ceiling fans as well as A/C.
